Economic globalization and financial integration is the world's main trend today, whose features include the deregulation of laws and rules for finance, the internalization of companies and non-financial institutes' penetration into the domain of banks. This imposes challenge to traditional banking and compels them to internationalized and operate universally.Since the 1990's, international expansion of banks, sometimes called "third wave", has happened all over the world. At the same time, foreign banks participated in Emerging Market Economies in Southeast Asia. Recently, foreign banks' market share in EMEs in Southeast Asia has increased significantly and foreign banks have played a greater role in the financial sector of the host countries.
