Study On Influences Of EXPO 2010 On Shanghai Tourism Industry

World Expo is a kind of international grand exhibition hosted by a state's government. In the 21st century when urban competitiveness gradually becomes the new focus of the world, grand exhibition and other grand convention can bring about local economic development in all dimensions to the host city, so as to increase the its brand popularity and internationalization degree. Expo 2010 to be held in Shanghai will play a direct leading role in regional economic and social development, most significantly influential in tourism in the tertiary industry.This paper first elaborates overall research condition on World Expo abroad and at home, and the development of Shanghai tourism. Then it studies on the positive influences of Expo 2010 on Shanghai tourism from six aspects: food, sheltering, transportation, site seeing, purchase, amusement, and anticipates possible negative effects during the expo and bring forward countermeasures. At last, countermeasures of macro-level are put forward which advocate taking advantage of expo to develop Shanghai tourism. There are six parts:The first chapter gathers up research background, research contents, technological route and innovative points.The second chapter hackles domestic and abroad research on Expo and development of Shanghai tourism.The third chapter is the core part, which starts research with the six elements of tourism. The positive impacts of expo on Shanghai tourism are food product innovation, service quality upgrading, quantity increase of hotel, advancement of urban transportation system, diversification and internationalization of tourism activities, emergence of souvenir franchised dealer and convenience in amusement. Study on the positive influence of Expo 2010 on Shanghai tourism constitutes one of innovative points in this paper.The fourth chapter studies on negative impacts. High passenger flow will affect tourists'experience. It will develop ecological problems such as huge resource consumption and heat island effect. Development of superfluous hotels after expo needs full plan.
