The Study Of The Influence Of Tourism On Social Culture Of The Destination

With the rapid development of tourism industry, the study of the influence of tourism has risen to be one of the problems which appeal to quite a few scholars. After the study of the overt influence of tourist economy, people began to care for the influence of developing tourism on the social culture of the destination, and the influence of social cultural changes on the sustainable development of local tourism. Whether the tourist industry of the destination can develop in a healthy and consistent way is closely connected with the local social and cultural changes and the attitudes of local inhabitants to tourism. Cultural changes are permanent and absolute, while tourist development is one of the elements promoting cultural changes. Under the guidance of the conception of sustainable development, how to properly understand the local social and cultural changes brought about by tourist development remains one of the important questions at present. Pingyao ancient city is currently at the stage of rapid development in terms of tourism. The inrush of a great number of tourists, abundant introduction of media, as well as tourist planning and development under the governmental attention, is putting the old city under social and cultural changes. This thesis chooses as its subject Pingyao, a typical inner inherited place, and makes use of tentative analysis to explore the influence of tourist development on the social cultural changes of Pingyao ancient city by means of data collection, questionnaire designing, questionnaire distribution and face-to-face interview.This thesis can be basically divided into four parts. The first part introduces the research background of the subject and its value, in addition to the survey of relevant studies at home and abroad as well as the concepts and theoretical foundation concerned in this thesis. The second part makes an introduction of the chosen site, Pingyao, in the light of its town survey, value and tourist situation. The third part takes several cases to analyze the specific influences of tourist development on the social culture of Pingyao, from the cultural items directly and indirectly connected with tourist development. The last part analyzes the nature of various changes from the theoretical perspective, and provides according measure for supervision.From the results of investigation and interview, we may find that tourist development promotes the social cultural changes of Pingyao ancient city. Some of them are positive, but some are positive. Since the ancient city tourism is still in its developing stage, the contradiction between tourist development and districts can be compromised under the guidance of common interest. As a result, pre-supervision before tourist planning and development on the basis of analyzing the nature and influence of various changes can ensure the healthy and consistent development of PIngyao tourism.
