As an important part of CIMS, Manufacturing Executing System (MES) is the production management system on the shop, which fills the communication gap between the Manufacturing Planning System (e.g. MRP2/ERP) and the control system. It aims to integrate the production process in terms of labors, materials, equipments and work-in-process so as to achieve the effective production and control on the shop floor. In this thesis, MES for vehicles assembly is investigated. Module of MES and the problem of Mixed Assembly lines sequencing are studied, which are both in MES. Genetic Algorithm (GA) is also adopted, solution of system is presented and MES for assembly is implemented finally.Firstly, the architecture of MES for vehicle are presented base on the analysis of production of vehicle and summarization of MES. Then describe the requirement, structure and critical tech in details.Secondly, the problem of similarity–based mixed assembly lines sequencing is presented base on the study of Mixed Assembly lines sequencing and Niche-based Genetic algorithm is adopted by the design of its selection, cross and mutation operator finally.Then, MES for vehicle assembly is designed in details base on the achievement above, including the function description and database design.Moreover, MES for vehicle assembly is implemented, and some interface is given.Finally, the conclusions are drawn and the further research directions of MES for vehicle assembly are pointed out.
