Research On The Knowledge-Sharing Mechanism In Technical Alliances

With the increasingly fierce market competition, enterprises which rely only on its own efforts have been unable to adapt to the rapid changes in consumer demand. Therefore, as the most common form of strategic alliances, the technical alliance has been widely used in businesses. Through establishing the alliance, firms can not only share the development costs and spread risks, but also promote the flow of knowledge between them, realize the advantages complement between partners and enhance their own capacity by sharing knowledge.It shows that most of the alliances have failed, attributing to the effects of knowledge-sharing in the alliances. There isn't an effective knowledge-sharing mechanism to guarantee the implementation of knowledge-sharing. Therefore, this paper tries to design an effective knowledge-sharing mechanism in technical alliances.First, this paper expounds the elements, process and the impacting factors of knowledge-sharing in the alliances. Thereinto the analysis on the factors are the important basis for the designing of knowledge-sharing mechanism. The factors include subjective, objective and situational ones. Second, it analyzes the behaviors between parters in the knowledge sharing process. Through analyzing the dynamic games process of incomplete information, this paper confirms that the key to the knowledge sharing problem is the distribution of interests, therefore through bargaining model it finds the balanced distribution of benefits, which provides the condition for the effective knowledge sharing in technical alliances. Then, this paper designs a knowledge-sharing mechanism, including choosing partners, determining the pattern of alliance, signing the agreements and administrating the alliance, in order to guarantee the knowledge transfer process in technical alliances on the overall view, ensuring the knowledge-sharing effectiveness. Finally, to some extent, it proves the the effectiveness of the mechanism designed in this paper using the successful example of China's TD-SCDMA technical alliance.
