Research On The Competitiveness Of China Listed Commercial Banks

The past ten years have seen a good market performance in China's shareholding commercial banks. Recently, the state-owned commercial banks and the joint-stock commercial banks completed the reform, some small and medium banks also got listed, including Beijing Bank and Nanjing Bank, Shanghai Bank and Shengjing Bank also prepare for getting listed.Morever, Agriculture Bank of China will get listed in 2009.Obviously, the competition that China's listed commercial banks face will become more intense.Threrefore, it's very important for the listed banks to win in the competition.The thesis is based on the objective existence of competitiveness and the objective reality of China's listed commercial banks. We summarized the research results about the competitiveness of the commercial banks, analyzed the theories of economics and finance, and then we studied the factors which consist of the competitiveness of the commercial banks. Finally, we studied the advantages and the shortages and made the countermeasures which help solve the problems.The background of research and objectives is given in the first part of the article, and the literature about the competitiveness of commercial banks literature is also reviewed. The theories about competitiveness of commercial banks are analyzed in the second part, and the basic concepts are also explained, including the definition, characteristics and components of commercial banks competitiveness. And then the research methods are summarized. In the third part, the principle that how to make the index of competitiveness is firstly introduced, and then the competitiveness of China's 10 listed commercial banks is comparatively studied from five aspects. In the fourth part, the results of the empirical study are analyzed; In the fifth part, the corresponding measures and policies are made to deal with the above problems.
