Nowadays,project management as a modern management has been widely used in the international. CNPC (China National Petroleum Corp) Jilin Oilfield Company operated independently in 2000. After the increasing of investment for exploration, oil and gas exploration achieved significant breakthroughs in Jilin Oilfield. Investment from the former average less than 1 billion Yuan rose to pre-year more than 3 billion Yuan. A huge amount of investment, project management led to confusion. For the existing problems, the company's planning department carry out a lot of work in the standard management systems and procedures, but it still had many urgent problems which included complicated procedures, too many key points, ineffective co-operation need to be addressed. This article introduces the application of PROJECT management software in the project management of Oilfield plant, in order to probe the application of modern information technology to improve the quality and efficiency of project management.PROJECT software is based on the critical path method (CPM) and program evaluation and review technique (PERT) are two technologies for the development of large and medium-sized projects, evaluation, optimization, resource allocation and dynamic on-site to track the general affirmation of Plan-based network software Package. The function include the control of cost and budget, making planning, resource management and scheduling tasks scheduled, monitoring and tracking, reports generation, to deal with a number of projects and sub-projects, to sort and filter, analysis of the assumptions and security, to share information with network, rapid establishment of the project plan, to manage the tasks, to allocate personnel and financial resources, and so on. In China the use of project management software for project management of projects has thousands Enterprise.Jilin Oilfield Company's project management processes, including the main four stages, namely: the early stage of the project, the preparatory phase of the construction project, the project construction phase, the project completion stage. There are four main problems in the former management processes. First, the workflow of investment projects was complexity. Second, the capability of construction companies existed problems. The third is co-ordination between departments. The end is too many key points.Jilin Oil field's project management of the main parts is'Four Kinds of Controls','Two Kind of Management'and'One Coordination'. Specifically, the'Four Kinds of Controls'includes the progress of the project management control, quality management control, cost management control and security control.'Two Kind of Management'is contract management and engineering information management.'One Coordination'refers to all participation parties'coordination, such as the construction companies, supervisions, and construction-related departments. This paper describes the application of software PROJECT in the second Songhua River bank protection project. In this project, through the use of project management software PROJECT Construction of the whole process of control and management of the project is scheduled to make the goals are achieved, at the same time the quality and investment in effective control. The Fact had proved that the software PROJECT was valuable to promote in Jilin Oil Field.Judging from the current situation analysis, project management software to promote PROJECT also in the following five respects to consider and improve. First is the quality control on construction and security planning. Second is the fund on the project plan. Third is the volume of construction works on the strength of Plan. Fourth is equipment resource allocation plan, the balance of resources and cost. Fifth are designs, equipment, and material delivery plan. Sixth is to review the progress of the plan, to update goals plan, to track the tasks, and to publish it on-line, and so on.The use of the software project, we must have the four conditions. First, the application requires PROJECT management capability of the construction companies to participate in the construction tender. This was followed by the project team is willing to use PROJECT management software. Third is that the application of project management software requires a good hardware environment. Finally, the need for users needs training for the use of software project management. This is the only way to achieve application software to manage projects to improve the quality of project management.
