China entered the WTO in December 11, 2001. From then on, China get revolved in the world trade system in much wider fields. China is a big country of agricultural production and consumption, so that the trade of agricultural products is always playing a key role in China's foreign trade. Many researches have been done before China entered WTO, which analyzed and forecasted the influence on the China's agricultural industry, agricultural workers and agricultural products. At the sixth year after China entered WTO, this paper reviews the trade situation of China's agriculture in the past six years and studied the reasons for change on China's agricultural trade volume in order to give answers to the above questions.First of all, this paper passes the macro-trade situation of agricultural products, products structure and market structure in review after China entering WTO. Second, it analyzes the changes of comparative advantage and competitiveness of China's agricultural products during the first five years after joining WTO with RCA and TC index. And then, it probes into the source of increasing of China's agricultural products export scale before and after entering WTO and the source of increasing of China's agricultural products import scale between the surplus and the deficit year during these six years. The study shows that the competitiveness of China's agricultural products decreased further. The labor-intensive products are of competitive advantage while the land-intensive ones are of competitive disadvantage. The deep processing agricultural products have better comparative advantage than the fresh and live ones. Besides, the increasing of China's agricultural products export mainly results from the enlargement of the international import markets, and the weak competitiveness of agricultural products restrained the increasing contrarily in the period. Meanwhile we should pay other attention to the positive influence of the rational export market construction. And the surge of China's agricultural products import mainly results from the disadvantages of China's land-intensive products, and the enlargement of the international trade scale and the rising of China's domestic demand also promote the agriculture import volume. The booming of large amount agricultural products' import, such as soybean, cotton, rice, which changed the product import structure, also explains the surge of the total agricultural import. In the end of this paper, the conclusion is made according to all the research done above, and the policy suggestion is given to face the challenge of world agricultural competition better.
