Research On Industry Structure And Scale Of Changxing Island Port-Vicinity Logistics Industry Zone

As ports playing more and more important roles in economy development, port-vicinity industry becomes a prominent sector in regional economy developing. Affected by historical reasons as well as current ports resources limitation, Dalian port-vicinity industry has already fallen behind its counterparts. However, Changxing Island port enjoys abundant resources to develop port-vicinity industry, which is in process of being exploited. So, making full use of the opportunity to develop port-vicintiy industry is vital to Dalian's future development to be an international shipping centre. Under such circumstances, this paper focused on Changxing Island port-vicinity industry and analyzes the industry structure and scale of it's logistics industry zone.Firstly, this paper introduces the related concepts and features of port-vicinity logistics industry zone first. Based on this, the paper then concluded Changxing Island's comparative advantage in developing port-vicinity industry. Secondly, due to the particularity of the Changxing Island Lingang Logitics zone's service target, the future entered industries do not only include logistics, but also contain other Lingang industries. Taking port-vicinity industry's feature and Changxing Island's current condition into consideration, this paper constructed CGE model which suits Changxing Island's well. SAM is the core data in the Changxing Island's CGE model. Therfore, the paper compiled macro SAM table based on Changxing island's social economy data and Liaoning Province's input-output table in 2002. Thirdly, the paper solved the model by GAMS software. Through simulating different investment choices, the paper analysed each choice's influence to Changxing Island's GDP as well as logistics output and then got the final conclusion: as long as the market balance being satisfied, port-vicinity industry's investment improvement can lead to local economy growth. However, once the critical value is exceeded, its effects to economy begin to weaken.In conclusion, based on the exploitation of Changxing Island, the paper analyzes Changxing Island port-vicinity logistics industry zone. After construction of CGE model, the paper got the proportion range that port-vicinity industry accounted in overall industry under each investment choice through solving the model. This result should have certain reference value to Changxing Island port-vicinity logistics industry zone's future development.
