The Empirical Analysis On The Relationship Between Foreign Trade And Economic Growth In Chongqing

Foreign trade played a very important role in promoting a country's economic growth. Looking back recent years, those countries which have realized quick economic growth, international trade has almost played the "accelerator" role. Not only global economic growth but also our country's economic development course reflects this fact.In the economic growth theory's developing process, basically there has not reflected the function of foreign trade, but these theories contained massive factors that foreign trades promote the economic growth. As an outside factor of economic growth, foreign trade has receiving much attention from researchers. The relationship between foreign trade and economic growth and the way in which foreign trade influences economic growth is always a focal argued point in academic circle.Since reform and open policy, Chongqing economy has grew rapidly, and achieved great achievement. After joining the World Trade Organization, particularly under economic globalization's background, Chongqing's economy will be more open. In recent years, Chongqing's imports and exports total growth was fast, but the imports and exports total occupied the GDP share actually present the drop tendency. The Chongqing foreign trade was still in take quantity as the characteristic extension development phase, lacks the effective mechanism to promote enterprise's competitive, and the foreign trade benefit is bad. The foreign trade level not only falls behind the eastern coast developed area, but also falls behind the national average level. Therefore, Chongqing's urgent matter is to develop foreign trade and promote economic growth.This paper is divided into six parts as follows: part one is the introduction. Introduce the background of the topic, elaboration method, Research key difficulty and so on. Part two constructs a frame of theoretical analysis about foreign trade and economic growth. The third part has carried on the analysis to Chongqing's economic growth and foreign trade's present situation. Chapter four is the empirical study by using the econometric analyzing methods. Chapter five makes some suggestions on how to promote Chongqing's foreign trade.Through the analysis of Chongqing 1987-2007 year data and the examination by the measurement model, this article draws the following conclusion:①In the long term, there exist stable relations between GDP,consume and investment. The export promoted the GDP growth, but import to the GDP growth influence is not remarkable.②In the short term, consume,investment,export and import influence the GDP together.
