A Study On Ecotourism Exploitation In Shanxi Yunmeng Mountain

Yunmeng Mountain lies in Jiaokou county, Shanxi province, which is the middle part of Lvliang Mountain. As one of the six scenic spots in Lvliang Mountain Forest Park, Yunmeng Mountain boasts of abundant ecotourism resources (such as fantastic stones, forests, caves, cliffs and Taoism culture), which offers a favorable base for its ecotourism development. The local government has thought highly of the ecotourism exploitation of Yunmeng Mountain -- it was regarded as one of the preferred tourism targets in Jiaokou county early in 2004. Therefore, how to reasonably exploit its ecotourism resources will bring important practical guidelines for the sustainable ecotourism development in Yunmeng Mountain.Based on the investigation and survey on the spot, the author employs some theories on ecotourism development to analyze the conditions of ecotourism exploitation of Yunmeng Mountain. With a detailed analysis on the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats (SWOT), the guiding philosophy and principles are brought forward as well as some strategic schemes of ecotourism exploitation in Yunmeng Mountain. There are five chapters in this thesis. The first chapter introduces the elementary theories of ecotourism development, from the background, significance, method and process of this research to the development of ecotourism research in the world. In the second chapter, the conditions of ecotourism exploitation in Yunmeng Mountain are briefly described, including its location, nature and social economy. Then the chapter 3 briefly introduces the ecotourism resources of Yunmeng Mountain including natural ecotourism resources and cultural ecotourism resources. In the following chapter 4, the SWOT analysis is made to work out the strategies of its ecotourism exploitation. In chapter 5, the guiding philosophy and principles are specified. As the most important part of this thesis, chapter 6 brings forth some strategic schemes of ecotourism exploitation in Yunmeng Mountain, in terms of administration, idea, ecotourism layout, product, route, resource protection and fund raising.In a word, the author hopes that this research is useful for the ecotourism exploitation and planning in Yunmeng Mountain.
