The true philosophy is the essence of the age's spirit, which is the key to understand the modern society in Marxist philosophy. In 1960s, the capitalist society has entered a new era, which is called consumption society by the post-modernists like Baudrillard. This is the times rich in materials, and consuming is taking the place of producing as the major role in society. The idea of consumption has spread unchecked nowadays. The words "I consume, so I exist" flows in this modern times, and people are directed to recognize what they consumed as the symbol of whom they are. All these phenomena warn the theory of Marxist philosophy to face new problems.This paper is trying to analyze the consumption theory of Baudrillard with the help of the idea-ology and methodology in Marxist philosophy. The whole paper gets 5 parts. The preface introduces the real background of the modern society and various of theories. The first part is going to make an analyses of the capitalism new times, the consumption society. The second part is stating the cultural idea of consumism in the consumption trends. The third part elaborates the essential idea of consumism in the capitalist society——commodity fetishism in Marxist philosophy. The forth part focuses on how to eradicate the mysterious veil of commodity fetishism in Marxist philosophy. The whole paper ends up with a summary of commodity fetishism in Marxist philosophy and the significances of re-thinking in this field.
