Debord Spectacle Fetishism is, based on ideological essence of predecessors, the special representation, by Debord, of physical reality of modern capitalist economy. Debord argued that after World War Ⅱ, capitalist society has evolved from the production stage to the spectacle stage; at this stage, almost every detail of life have been alienated into spectacle format; all the living things were simply signs. Capitalist control form has shifted from the invisible recessive hegemony to false image control, the shadowing social relations reversed again to representational existence. This reflected the alienation reality of contemporary Western society in the field of economy, politics, culture and everyday life.As for the ideological and theoretical origins of Debord Spectacle Fetishism, such as Marx’s theory of fetishism, technical rational thought of the Frankfurt School, Lefebvre’s Critique of Everyday Life, they are all important for combing the theories of Debord Spectacle Fetishism as a whole. Debord, with Spectacle Fetishism, revealed the features of capitalist society in a new stage by pointing out consumerism became the dominant logic of the reversing world and visual culture became the main channel to contact with the outside world. The supremacy of visual sensory forged an army of "spectators" without actions, and imposed spectacle ideology on "viewed" groups. And all this was operated by manufacturing and spreading illusion picture through the media to build spectacle-style life, by encroaching leisure time after work to erode the daily life, by taking advantage of unconscious psychological convergence to achieve public self-colonization. Thus, Debord put forward the art-of-living revolutionary road which was different from Marx’s proletarian revolution. The theory of Spectacle Fetishism not only reflected Debord’s questioning and dissection about the reality of capitalist society, but also was an important part in the transaction from Marxism to post-Marxism. Looking the current development of the socialist market economy and the construction of socialist modernization of China, whether commodity economy provides a suitable breeding ground for Spectacle Fetishism and whether Chinese-style life is trapped in Spectacle Fetishism. Faced with the reality of spectacle-oriented, how should we construct material civilization and spiritual civilization, and this is the most precious spiritual nourishment provided by Debord Spectacle Fetishism.
