Study On The New Stage Urbanization Development Of Gansu Province

Urban is an opening Socio-economic system,it not only changes substances and information with the nearby hinterland but also changes substances,energies,information,etc with each other.The space reciprocity let cities which have the different scale-rank,different functions and characteristics become an integrated system with a special structure and several certain functions,that is "urban system".With the Chinese Reform and the opening-up development,there has a new chance for the economic growth and some great new challenges in western China.If the urbanization is the high congregation of economics and social development,and the characters of industrialization,internationalization or modernization,the urban system is the regional economics' framework,and it is the pole of the regional economics.So,it's very important to study the characteristics of urban system's evolution and driving mechanism for working-out proper stratagem and to promote the regional growth of economy and social development.This thesis chooses the typical less-developed region,such as Gansu,which is an arid inner province in west China's mainland,located among Qinghai-Tibet Plateau,the Mongolian Plateau and the Loess Plateau as the study area.Based on the statistical data from the yearbooks,the thesis analyses the evolutionary progress of the urban system in Gansu province from time dimension and space dimension respectively.First of all,the paper analyses the urbanization characteristics and its causations of the status quo in Gansu.Based on the fractal theory,under the ArcGIS9.2 workstation,this paper calculates the index of primacy and imbalance,the scale entropy,and some dimensions such as Hausdorff dimension to analyze the scale features of the urban system in Gansu.By calculates the town density and some spatial-feature dimensions such as Correlation dimension, Gathered dimension and Information dimension,this paper measures the spatial features.In order to classify the different regions based on the synthesized development status in Gansu province,the thesis takes the Artificial neural network theory,uses the Kohonen network (self-organizing feature map) as amethodto analysis the Fuzzy Cluster. Combined with the result of the cluster and SWOT analysis,after the forecast of the rate of the urbanization and development goals,the paper gives some strategies for each regions in Gansu at new stage of development.At the end of this paper,the thesis draws out the urban system's spatial key distributions of the whole area.As a conclusion,the thesis encloses by summarizing the result of the above fractal analysis and artificial neural network analysis, then point out the orientation of the further study.
