ADV Company China Region Distribution Center Re-location Research Report

ADV is a listed company in Taiwan, the main products are industrial computers, a wide range of applications involving industrial automation control, medical equipment control systems, traffic signal control systems, CNC equipment control systems etc. ADV distribution center in China was established in 1997 and is located at Shenzhen. Distribution center to supply mainly from the Group within the three major manufacturing centers: Taipei manufacturing center, Kunshan manufacturing center and Dongguan manufacturing center. China customers include the large state-owned holding enterprises which is direct under central authorities as the representative in Beijing and foreign-funded enterprises in Yangtze River Delta and Pearl River Delta.ADV made strategic adjustment in early 2007, in order to strengthen the connection between global four major distribution centers and extend the repair and reverse logistics function,the company manufacturing center moved from Dongguan to Kunshan, and established the new manufacturing center in Kunshan. With the development of China economic, the distribution company customer base and market focus has changed. Due to these changes,ADV initiate the re-location of distribution centers to adapt to the requirements for distribution center under latest situation. It is an honor that I joined the Chinese Distribution Center project experts team and involved in the whole process of this project due to I was familiar with the logistics and customs import and export business. This article showed some important process during the distribution center site selection.Combined distribution center site selection methods and the characteristics of ADV, this article will describe in four parts. The first part was an overview of distribution centers, distribution centers introduction and site selection methods introduction. The second part was the analysis before the implementation of distribution center location analysis in China, describing the problems of distribution center and reasons analyzing. Part three is divided into the preparation of distribution center location. The fourth part was to choose a new site using qualitative method and quantitative method for the distribution center. These four-part combined and described the implementation and application of distribution center site selection.
