APP (China) GSCM Problem Research

The development of industry has resulted in many negative impacts on nature. In this world, many regions have serious environmental problems. This has worsened the quality of people's life. People have realized that the continuous development must base on the harmony between mankind and the nature.In the past, environmental protection of enterprises mainly focused on end-of-pipe treatment, and the actions were mainly implemented within an enterprise. Such end-of-pipe treatment couldn't really control the pollution. With the development of practice, people find the above way not only brings high cost of controlling pollution, but also can not solve the problem at the beginning of pollution, and this makes the supplying enterprises' environmental problem affects the end-of-pipe enterprises' environmental performance. Thus, a new concept, green supply chain management (GSCM), is emerging. GSCM emphasizes the cooperation among the enterprises in the same supply chain. GSCM considers decreasing environmental impacts during design of products, selection of material, manufacturing, sales and recycling of products.Paper making enterprises are assumed as destroying resources and polluting environment, for on one hand, paper is made from trees, which consumes many non-renewable resources and on the other hand, paper-making will bring waste water and other discharges. But thanks to the invention of paper, civilization of human being can be carried forward.As one of top ten world paper-making enterprises, APP has taken efforts to discover the harmonious development of paper-making and environments realize a recyclable economic model and try to carry out forest-pulp-paper model.The thesis uses LCA to analyze the resource and environmental problem of APP product, Analyzed results show that it is necessary for APP to implement GSCM.Through stakeholder analysis, it was identified that environment strategy and environmental potection policy are two key factors that affect the GSCM of APP. Base on such results,stategies for GSCM are put forward.Initial research of GSCM in APP has been made by this thesis. Hopefully this thesis will help to improve APP environmental image, and thus APP can become a green company that develops harmoniously with the environment.
