Analysis On The Differences And Influential Factors Between Urban And Rural Residents' Consumption

Recently, due to the influence of global financial crisis, our national macro economy situation turned out to be currency deflation. Our national market has huge potentiality, It's rational to motivate domestic request, activate domestic consumption for the industrial development and avoiding crisis. Domestic consumption market suffers an urban-rural structure, in which urban consuming market has higher relativity with the economical development than rural consuming market. To solve the problem of imbalance effectively, it's essential to make a full acquaintance about the current situation of urban and rural consumption, and make a further understanding of their differences as well. Furthermore, It's critical to analyze the reasons for them. Only by recognizing the situation deeply, could we get the resource for it and make out a proper politics to solve it fundamentally. Therefore, the research on the differences between rural and urban residents' consumption is important.With research data from Sichuan Province, both consuming differences and its influential factors of urban and rural residents were compared and analyzed systemically with questionnaire and statistics analysis approach. Firstly, the theory on consuming economics and main research fruit were systemically illustrated. Then, the current situation and change of rural and urban residents' consumption differences in Sichuan Province were analyzed with consuming level and Eng coefficient as its main index, the effects of income on rural and urban residents' consuming outcome were researched by panel data model, the constraints on rural residents' consumption were proposed and the influential factors on the differences between rural and urban residents' consumption were systemically analyzed as well. Finally, some suggestions were given on diminishing the economic gap between rural and urban residents' consumption in Sichuan Province to win a harmonious development. The main conclusions drawn from the research were just as follows:(1)With the economical development and the increasing of people's income, rural and urban residents of Sichuan Province live at a higher level, Eng coefficient decreased constantly. Eng coefficient of rural residents had higher start spot but lower decreasing speed than it of urban residents, which led to the bigger differences between them two. Despite the rural residents' living standard increased a lot, it had a long way to catch up with urban residents.(2)The influence of income on rural and urban residents' consumption was analyzed by panel data model, which showed that the higher income got, the higher consumption outcome became. The top three ways of consuming for urban residents were food,transportation,education and entertainment while that for rural residents were food,habitation,transportation and communication. Marginal propensity to consume(MPC) of rural and urban residents was similar to each other on clothing,housing,medical care,habitation and other commodities, but different on food,transportation,communication,education and entertainment.(3)The differences, big or small, existed in the rural and urban consuming outcome of the three regions. Plain region had the smallest differences on its whole rural and urban living consumption no matter whether by absolute magnitude or its ratio, with hilly ground following behind. Conclusions could be drawn that the plan for urban and rural development as a whole of Sichuan Province made a difference for plain country and hilly ground, but had little effect on mountainous area.(4)The influential factors on the diversity of rural and urban residents' consumption were studied by questionnaire and factor analysis model. Results showed that, besides the differences of income level, the differences on the purpose of deposit,revenue anticipation,consuming environment and consuming concept played an important role on the gap of rural and urban residents' consumption.
