Kazak is a nomadic ethnic group since ancient times, nomadic production is their basic way of living and production, animal husbandry is the main body of nomadic, in terms of animal husbandry, the most basic means of production are animal husbandry and pasture. Therefore, there is a popular proverb in the Kazak people, which is "the crowd is to rely on livestock for survival." With the development of the socio-economic, in pastoral areas due to natural conditions, social factors (traditional production habits, old concept) and other reasons, the economic development of pastoral areas is not comprehensive. From nomadism to settle down is a fundamental change of nomadic ethnic group in their production methods, also is an important measure to improve social Economic development. Because the nomadic way of production and operation, economic development in pastoral areas is limited, the problem of impoverishment of pastoral herders have become increasingly prominent, also the life and the production are very inconvenient. Therefore, our government pays a lot of attention to improve pastoral production and their living conditions, which are also the personal needs of the Kazakh nomads. The nomads settle in the pastoral areas is a new choice of the way of living and production, due to the contradictions of socio-economic, ecological environment and resources, so settling down occupy an important position and role in the socio-economic development in pastoral areas.This article is divided into five parts. The first part expounds the nomadic life of the Kazak, introduces the nomadic and kazak, the emerging and characteristics of the nomadic Kazakh economy, Kazakh customs. The second part expounds the settlement of Kazak herdsmen in the northern Xinjiang , introduces the historical process and the type of herders to settle in. The third part focuses on current settlement situation of saeryemule Kazak herdsmen, the changes of their production, lifestyle and values after settlements. The fourth part analyzes the problem of settling down of Kazak herdsmen in the northern Xinjiang, respectively, from the economic, social, cultural, ecological problems .The fifth part combines with the problem of the fourth part, puts forward some relevant countermeasures.
