Over the past decade, chain-store business has developing rapidly as one of mainstay industries in social economy. With its exploring vigorously, distribution, a core logistics activity plays very important role. Socialization, specialization and systematization become current inevitable demand to distribution. It is proved that during the process of distributing activity, information processing and dispatching speed can be speeded up with computer, telecommunication and network technologies, so improving efficiency and competence greatly. Therefore, study on information management of distribution has significant realistic meaning.This paper reviews chain-store distribution and information management, aiming at the current situation in China. Based on this, it takes hold in a combination of distribution and information management, including researches as follows: firstly, points out theoretical foundations of information management of distribution (refers to theories of business process reengineering, virtual enterprises, learning organization and "scientific outlook on development"). Secondly, researches on management information system in distribution center, whose point is planning and designing of MIS. Thirdly, takes detailed researches on methods in information management of distribution. These contain two parts. One is the information management of distribution operation, namely to do researches on every single handling link. Another is information management of distribution performance. It mainly studies on how to take advantages of channels and data in information processing to make distribution performance appraisal. Finally, puts forward several safeguard mechanism for implementation of information management of distribution, from the standpoint of macro-oriented policy.
