At the end of 2008, Dongfang Electric Machinery Co., Ltd. signed the supply contract with the French energy conglomerate GDF-Suez Energy to supply the world's largest bulb hydro units for J Project in Brazil. The project will be installed with 18 sets of the world's largest bulb type hydro units, with unit capacity of 75MW. This is the largest export project ever signed by the company, and the biggest contract for hydroelectric power generating equipment export in the Chinese history, and the biggest unit capacity in the world. We have the confidence to supply equally good equipment, or even better equipment comparing with any other big suppliers in the world.This article introduces the plan for project management of J Project. It includes establishment of organization and project management personnel training; preparation of special plan for project execution and management, analysis of project resources suitable for technical features and manufacturing requirements of hydro power units; estimation and analysis of project costs; identification of project risks as well as tactics to control such risks. Through the project management plan for J Project, the project can be smoothly executed so as to lay a solid foundation for open up more international markets for our products.The special plan has been applied in our practical work. In order to control the potential technical risks, it is proposed to organize expert team to conduct actual investigation at site to identify risks, and perform detailed and in-depth analysis on possible risk events. It is a new approach for us to perform project cost estimation, therefore, it will be verified and improved in our practical work.
