Structure-function & Value Evaluation Study Of Non-timber Forest Products

With the development of social and economic, with the improved living standards of residents, and with the changing ecological environment, people's understanding of forest is gradually thorough. we know that forests can be not only used to product wood, but also can provide a large number of other products and ecological benefits. As an important component of the forest products, the non-timber forest products is composed of two parts, the traditional sense of non-timber forest products and ecological products of forest. The NTFP's special importance and potential value of the world is gradually recognized.This article holds that the non-timber forest products should be included in the ecological forest products. Now the become more and more important in forest products. Introducing eco-forest products Into NTFP will make its value measurement system more complete. And better objectively reflect the role of non-timber forest products in the economic and social.In this paper, We choose shandong Province as an example, and a sampling survey was conducted for traditional non-timber forest products,based on the Various parts of different landforms in Shandong Province and the fact of imbalance of development about forests. According to the date we investigated, we know there are 19 kinds of traditional non-timber forest products in shandong Province. Through analysis of the data, we can further study of its actual role in Shandong Province, industry size and growth potential. Accoding to the price we got when we investigated, we calculated the value of each non-timber forest products, On this basis , combinating of the agricultural population in Shandong Province, can be derived the Total value of traditional non-timber forest products about 25.57 billion.And accoding to the sampling survey about 1280 farmers in Shandong Province, the one year family income of each farmer is 24831.1 yuan. The one year family income of each farmer about non-timber forest products is 1657.9 yuan. So we can know that about 6.68% of the farmers annual total income come from forests and forestry.Integrated on the relevant study, we use conventional methods at home and abroad such as market value method, prevention cost method, travel cost mothod, contingent value method to account the value Of ecological forest products in Shandong Province. Such as Water Conservation of Forest, Protective Function, the function of climate regulation, carbon fixation, landscape tourism , Biodiversity Conservation and so on.Integrated the research of traditional non-timber forest products and ecological products in Shandong Province , we got the total value of non-timber forest products is about 154.342 billion yuan. And the ratio of traditional non-timber forest products and ecological value of the product is 1:5.04.
