Study On Compliance Of Nutrition Labeling Of Foods

Background:The nutrition labeling of food is a introduction on food package in order to provide the nutrition composition and features of food to consumers,international organizations and a lot of countries pay great attentions on the legislation and management of it.China begin the work of nutrition labeling in 1999,after many times of discussion and adjustion,the regulation of food labeling has been announced in December 2007 by China Ministry of Health,and has been carried on in May 2008.The implement of the regulation depends on society requirement,the ability of enterprise to execution it,the ability of government to supervising and directing it.As the analyze institution of nutrition components,the labs provide the technological supporting to enterprise and government.Objective:Investigation the compliance of enterprise and Supervision and department,acknowledge the analyze ability of nutrition components labs, give technological supporting to promote implementation of the regulation and make it approaching perfection.Method:1.The compliance test of Health Inspection Institution:send investigation form to 28 Health Inspection Institution of province level to test the compliance of them.2.The compliance test of food industry:send investigation form to 31 food industry to test the compliance of them.3.The investigation of capability of 21 labels:send investigation form to 21 labs CDC of province level to acknowledge the capability of them. Results:1.The difference of capability of supervising and directing Health Inspection Institution,basic awareness of nutrition labeling,the regulation of technological need to strengthen.2.The compliance of food industry still weak,The training gets great effects,find an effective way to Publicizing the regulations3.The analyze capability label has a basic level,but also need to be strengthen.4.In view of current problems on nutrition labeling,some strategy of the implementation on increase the compliance are given.Conclusions:At present,there are many problems in the process to implementing the nutrition labeling.To improve the capability and accuracy of Health Inspection Institution and food industry for nutrition labeling,need to publicizing,educating,training,prepare the document of technological guidebook or a manual,give more chance of practice to the trainee.The training for food analysis in Chinese labs should be strengthen,and standard operation processure should be unified.
