Tourism industry in China witnessed significant development in recent years and has become one of the most important components of Chinese fast growing economy. As the leader of this industry, tourism agencies are under booming developments. This is undoubtedly imposing higher requirement on the quantity and quality of tourism practitioners. Most of tourism agencies hire tourism specialists who received tourism related education of different level. However, the discrepancy between what tourism agencies need and what tourism schools teach is getting sharper and sharper. New graduates from tourism schools can not qualify the need of tourism agencies.Based on questionnaires, talks and interviews with tourism students, new graduates and tourism agencies, this paper analyzed the state of art of college tourism agency management education and why innovations are required from the perspectives of schools, students and tourism agencies.On the theory of tourism agency curriculum innovations, this paper borrows concepts from fundamental subjects and defines curriculum as integration of target, content, implementation and evaluation.The innovations should follow rules of integrity, systematization, collaboration and feasibility. This paper analyzes and gives innovative suggestions on the target, content, implementation and evaluation of college tourism education curriculum.
