More and more studies have been carried out about the rural tourism in the academic circles all over the world. In recent years, with the development of industrialization and urbanization, the demand of urban residents for pressure release and naturalize has become greater and greater. Driven by the two great opportunities which are the new policy of Public Holiday and Shanghai World Expo in 2010, the rural tourism of Qingpu district is getting a new look thanks to the effection of the metropolitan coordinating region, and playing an important role in the overall tourism of Shanghai city. Because of the late commencement of rural tourism in Qingpu, the development and research is still at the initial stage with the problems existing in supply, rural residents and tourists. So it is necessary to make a further research in this field. Based on a comprehensive literature review and an empirical research, this thesis makes a systematic inspection into the rural tourism development of Qingpu district. And it comprises of 6 chapters as follows:The first chapter is Introduction, which mainly introduces the background, the research method, the foundation theories, the technique route and the framework of the whole thesis.In the second chapter, based on summarizing the definition of rural tourism and other related apellations from home and abroad, this thesis makes an elementary differentiation and analysis. The concept of rural tourism with the practical situation of Qingpu district is also elaborated, which paves the way for the further researches in the following chapters. Moreover, the development and research about rural tourism both domestic and overseas, including Shanghai, is also reviewed.The third chapter focuses on the background of the subject investigated. The developmental condition of rural tourism is expatiated from three aspects, which are the support of the government at all levels; the impetus from resource, location and the foundation of tourism development; and the driving force of the huge market demand. Besides, on the basis of comparing with Shanghai regarding scale and ranking, category of product, market attractiveness, visiting rate, and functional localization, the status of rural tourism development of Qingpu is analyzed. As to the regional industry, the rural tourism of Qingpu is becoming an important industry to improve the rural economy and the social development.The fourth chapter, as the main body of the thesis, analyzes the current situation of rural tourism development of Qingpu in aspect of"Destination-Resident-Tourist". Firstly, a primary analysis in the product, rural tourism spot, spatial layout, and management structure is made about the destination of rural tourism in Qingpu. Secondly, this thesis carries out case studies of five typical rural tourism spots, basing on the qualitative analysis. Focusing on the the degree of residents'participation and also the residents'perception of the rural tourism, this part studies the relationship between the residents'participation and the age of rural tourism spot, the major influencing factor of perception, and the measures of strengthening the positive perception. Thirdly, four spots with different types are chosen for investigation. With Nonparmetric Tests by SPSS, along with analyzing the characteristics of tourist market, the major influencing factor of place attachment, the influence of place attachment on tourist behavior, and the measures of utilizing the place attachment are discussed.In the fifth chapter, this thesis points out the problems of the rural tourism of Qingpu on both microcosmic and macroscopic levels. And some measures and countermeasures are put forward, providing certain suggestions for the government.The Conclusion part summarizes the whole thesis, enumerates the main achievement, conclusions and shortcoming of the thesis, and points out the direction for further research.
