A Study Of The Influence The Supplier Motivation Has On The Supply Chain Performance

With the development of economy globalization, resource insufficiency and lateral cooperation integration, the manufacturer is inclined to outsource the unimportant business to the upper supplier. The quality and compentency of the final product by the manufacturer has to rely more on the overall performance of raw material,components and outsourcing units, and the buyer must depend on the supplier more deeply.The competition between companier has developed into the rivalry between the supply chains. This situation demands that the core company build the supply base with high performance and capability to promote the total competitive edge of the supply chain.Therefore, supplier management becomes very important. As the core content of supplier management,supplier motivation carries critical implication and reference on the supply chain performance theoretically and practically.Based on the literature review and actual interview, this study constructs a model about the relationship between supplier motivation,supply chain cooperation performance and the core company performance,which focuses on the influence the supplier has on the supply chain performance.The supplier motivation is divided into three dimensions:investment motivation,organizational motivation and involvement motivation.The supply chain performance is divided into two levels:the supply chain cooperation performance and the core company performance.The core company performance is divided into three dimensions:operation performance,financial performance and innovation performance.On the basis of the dimensions of divided variables,a concrete item scale has been developed.This study uses the SPSS tool to analyze and quantify the data collected from 226 effective questionnaires and gains the conclusions as follows:(1) the relationship between the supplier motivation and the supply chain cooperation performanceInvestment motivation,involvement motivation of supplier motivation both have significant positive influence on the supply chain cooperation performance.The organizational motivation doesn't have significant positive influence on the supply chain cooperation performance.(2) the relationship between the supplier motivation and the core company performance Investment motivation, organizational motivation of supplier motivation both have significant positive influence on the operation performance of the core company.The involvement motivation has no significant positive influence on the operation performance.Investment motivation, organizational motivation and involvement motivation all have significant positive influence on the financial and innovation performance of the core company.(3) the relationship between the supply chain cooperation performance and the core company performanceThe supply chain cooperation performance has significant positive influence on operation performance,financial performance and innovation performance of the core company respectively.(4) the influence on the relationship between supplier motivation and the core company performance by the supply chain cooperation performanceThe supply chain cooperation performance has significant mediating effect both on the relationship between supplier motivation and operation performance and on the relationship between supplier motivation and financial performance; The supply chain cooperation performance has no significant mediating effect on the relationship between supplier motivation and innovation performance.The conclusion of this study provides critical implication and reference on the improvement of supplier motivation in supply chain practice and promotion of the supply chain performance.
