A Study On The Relationships Between Knowledge Cooperative Motivation, Cooperative Behavior And Cooperative Innovation Performance Of Firms

Under the interaction of economic globalization, technology diffusion, knowledge sharing and competition pressure, technology interleaving and interfirm cooperation become trend. Every firm is in continuous learning and it becomes a norm to learn from and share in advanced technology and knowledge of other firms. As Ohmae says, an international business consultant,that today's products are so heavily dependent on a number of different key technologies that most companies can't always keep all of these advanced technologies. No firm can have all the advanced knowledge and technology related to their production and service.Therefore, in the environment of diversified market demand and rapid technology changes, firms carried out extensively diversified knowledge cooperation innovation activities.Literature and data show that firms have achieved remarkable success in knowledge cooperation and innovation activities, but there are also many examples of cooperation failure or cooperation disintegration. There are two reasons for this failure:the cooperation power is insufficient and the cooperation relation is not stable.Therefore, it is of theoretical significance and practical value to analyze the conditions and mechanism of the success or failure of knowledge cooperation between firms, and then to study the relationship about firms'cooperative motivation, cooperative behavior and cooperative performance.Based on the definition of the concept of knowledge cooperation between them, this paper builds the flow chart of knowledge cooperation and innovation among firms.synthetically using the related disciplines, such as transaction cost theory, resource based theory, organizational learning theory, strategy management theory and competition and cooperation theory, and draw lessons from existing research.This paper sees the firms'cooperation motivation as independent variable, the cooperative behavior as a mediating variable, government support as a moderator variable.Then the relationship model between variables is established, and relevant assumptions are put forward.Using the method of questionnaire survey, the data of knowledge cooperation innovation in 329 firms were obtained, and the data, model and relevant hypotheses were tested by using multiple regression and structural equation modeling methods.The main conclusions are as follows:Firstly, build the general process diagram of interfirm knowledge cooperative innovation, namely to determine the firms'cooperation motivation,to choose the right partner,construct platform for cooperation, create new knowledge and new technology,absorb new knowledge. Combined with the firm knowledge innovation and with the KC-SECI model of the interfirm knowledge innovation, the study explains the concept about knowledge innovation among firms, builds the process diagram, provides theoretical basis for practical use of how cooperative motivation?cooperative behavior effect cooperative innovation performance.Secondly, verify the main purpose of the cooperative motivation effect on cooperative innovation performance.lt turns out that R&D motivation, learning motivation, strategic motivation and competitive motivation have a significant positive influence on cooperative innovation performance.This study can fill in gaps of the relationship between interfirm cooperative innovation and cooperative innovation performance in existing literature, as well as further enrich research about the influence factors of cooperative innovation performance to some extent. Furthermore, this study is the important contribution to the application of knowledge cooperative motivation theory in cooperative innovation field.Thirdly, tight connection and knowledge resource inputs can intermediate the relationship between cooperative motivation and cooperative innovation performance, as well as open the black box of the relationship between them. Analyze internal functional path of cooperative motivation to cooperative behavior and cooperative innovation performance, the cooperative innovation influence mechanism between them.The study makes theoretical contributions for exploring the effective mechanism between cooperative behavior and cooperative innovation performance more.Finally, this study chooses government's support as important environment variable and validates that government's support mediates the relationship between R&D motivation and tight connection, and the relationship between learning motivation and knowledge resource inputs respectively.It cleans up functional path of influence factors of cooperative innovation performance. Furthermore, it explains that the regulation of government's support during the transition process of cooperative motivation and cooperative behavior in the knowledge cooperative innovation among firms. The results can generally and systematically reveal the influence mechanism of cooperative innovation performance, which can help to accurately and deeply grasp internal rules of knowledge cooperative innovation from the perspective of cooperative innovation performance.The results is supported as well as make contributions to institutional theory.This study fills in the gap of existing literature, and to some extent can enrich and broaden current theoretical research about the relationship between cooperative motivation and cooperative innovation performance between firms.In practice, this study can help to guide the behavior of firms during knowledge cooperative innovation process, promote cooperative innovation performance, and provide guidance to effective cooperation among firms.
