Research On Corporate Society Responsibility Evaluation Index System Of Mining Company

With the rapid development of China's economy, the demand for minerals is keeping a constantly growth. Under that background,Mining companies enter a high-speed development period. In 2009, the coal output of our country reached 3.05 billion tons. That output increased by 16.4% on the base of last year's number. As the main provider of industrial raw material and energy, we can predict that the developments of mining industry will still keep on fast lane.There are also several problems existing in mining industry along with that rapid development. The main problems are as follows. The exploitation and utilization of mineral resources are still comparatively extensive. Most of the mining companies are small-scale. The management and technology need much improvement. Excessive exploitation and paying not attention for the environment lead negative impact on nature. Blinded investment and construction, orderless mining destroy the mine ecological environment, soil and water conservation and biodiversity. The safety measures and worker protection condition is relatively backward. Mining accidents keep on a considerably high level, and become an often mentioned social issue. As to the employee occupational disease, there are few measures to prevention. Especially for the dust during exploitation harmful to employee, because of lasting for a long time and can not be found easily, that always results in bad consequences.Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is that while the corporation keeps himself continuous improvement, its responsibility for the objects related to corporation and the contribution to social development and environmental protection. We can start a research on the problems existing in the mining companies under the framework of CSR theory. Through the research on the CSR performance, we can measure the problems above mentioned.The paper makes a research on the theory development of CSR, has a clear understanding about CSR and advance a definition of CSR. An analysis on the current situation of mining companies comes next. After that we summarize the existing problems and the defects of mining companies through their CSR performance, trying to find some reason. On the base of that we discuss the significance and the necessities to build a CSR evaluation index system for mining companies. Then we build that CSR evaluation index system according to the features of mining companies and make a CSR evaluation model. At last with that CSR evaluation index system we select a mining company as an example to evaluate its performance and give several advises.
