Research On The Agglomeration Ability And Evaluation Of Chinese Machine Tool Industry

As a development method of industries, industrial agglomeration has been recognized by many scholars and specialists, and verified by practices. Many countries and regions are working to improve industry by industrial agglomeration, so does China in developing machine tool industry. Without no scholar and charity defining the ability of industrial agglomeration, the content of the ability in industrial agglomeration is still not clearly.Based on the theory of industrial agglomeration and industrial agglomerating ability, this article constructs the constituent elements of industrial agglomeration ability. Taking machine tool industry for example, this article constructs the measure indexes, and measures the agglomeration abilities of China's machine tool industry. Theoretically, four pieces are built for industrial agglomeration ability. They are the status of the industry's development, the status of its related industries, the level of the region economic development and the cooperation network in regions. In empirical, first, using CRn index, Gini index, H index, EG index, the level of China's machine tool industry is measured. The result is that the agglomerative level of China's machine tool industry is low, though four regions like Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Shandong, Liaoning province owning relatively large scale, followed by Henan province. State-owned enterprises' building in so many regions is an important reason of making low level agglomeration of China's machine tool industry. Secondly, the measure index system for China's machine tool industry is constructed, including 17 of tertiary indexes, 12 of second indexes, and 4 of first class indexes which are the current situation of machine tool industry, the current situation of relative industries, the development environment of the region, the ability for developing technologies. Based on the analyzing of current situation in 28 provinces, the result comes that Jiangsu, Shandong, Guangdong, Zhejiang, Beijing, Henan, Liaoning provinces with each one's weakness, own more competitiveness in developing agglomeration ability. The existing network in machine tool industrial clusters is not good enough. There is a common problem in developing machine tool industry and industrial agglomeration which is the low ability of technological innovation. At last, the status and the ability of China's machine tool industry agglomeration are evaluated, and some revelatory results are given.
