It is a key factor for the sustainable development of independent colleges to ensure the cultivation quality and establish a students'cultivation mode with their own characteristics. This study makes use of the five forces of Michael Porter's diamond model, including Potential Entrants, Suppliers, Buyers, Substitutes and Competitors. Strategically speaking, the condition of five competitive forces and their overall strength decide the intensity of the competition between independent colleges, the curriculum arrangement, target location and cultivation content, methods and approaches and the final capability of setting the students cultivation strategies as the core in the industry.Students'cultivation is the central task and basic mission of independent colleges. How to explore and establish the strategic students'cultivation mode is the key which is related to the survival and development of independent colleges. This paper makes an analysis of the overall strategy of cultivating students in the independent colleges in China in Chapter 1, Chapter 2 and Chapter 3 with Michael Porter's five-force mode to show the overall relativity of the development of higher education, especially of the independent colleges; in Chapter 4, it analyzes and demonstrates with GC College as the example the core problem related to the development of independent colleges-the strategic students'cultivation mode, which is similar to neither the ordinary universities nor the vocational colleges, and then explores the strategic choice by the independent colleges to cultivate the students into creative and compound talents and provides corresponding theories and methods.According to this research, the study of the students'cultivation strategy and mode in independent colleges is still at the initial stage and there is a limited number of studies on "Students'Cultivation Strategy" among current papers.
