| With the global economic integration, the changing market competition becomes more intense. While facing the diversified market environment, the companies have to adjust themselves including the cost, development cycle, inventory control, logistics etc.... In the meanwhile the modern economic development has also proved that companies need to merge procurement,supply, production, distribution and marketing relating areas as the one, and to implement the chain operation with cooperation of state by state or company by company for complementary advantages, and to utilize available resources to enjoy the advantage of team work. Only in this way can they take the advantage occupying the important position in the marketing economy. It is influence that the global economic integration brings to enterprises. As for Supplier Management in the SCM (supply chain management), it has been the necessary course while promoting an enterprise managers.The Focus of this study is basing on the supplier management system of IBM China Procurement center as main resources. With reference of common questions existing in view of supplier management of the IBM China procurement center, the article analyzes IBM supplier management system weakness and brings forward how to improve them accordingly. At the beginning the article introduces the status of the company, and then analyzes some issues which their OEM suppliers are facing with. The main issues are:(1)OEM supplier's selection and technology migration (2) OEM supplier's quality management (3) The supplier's logistics and inventory management. Pointing to these problems it is not simply to narrate how to solve the problem, but to analyze IBM's supplier management mode and structure as root course, deeply anatomizing the leakiness of the current system, uncovering the imperfections of the management. The purposes are getting rid of these problems through the theory applying to the practice to complete the supply chain management system. The study ideas firstly is finding out the OEM suppliers weakness in capability of technology transplant through analyzing the IPD process, and completing it systematically; secondly is enhancing the supplier own quality control through multiple theories of the quality management especially with Six Sigma theory; finally is finding out the root course of inaccurate inventory control through studying common problems in logistics control, and completely reducing the costs of the logistics and turnover through information systems upgrade to solve the mismatch of Demand and Logistics Control. The last chapter is a summary of the whole article as well as listing some existing valuable supplier management problems. The researcher hopes to attract more researchers' concern and dedication to the improvement of supplier management theory. By this study the researcher is trying to lesson-learn from the previous success management experience and to overcome its shortcomings, to sum up the universal management principle of IT industry. By the study of real practices and procurement management ways, it anatomizes the low-cost procurement operation, supplier selection, and how to enhance the development and logistics management capability efficiently. These questions are all key points of supplier management in supply chain management. The writer hopes this study can help to promote Chinese enterprises in the manufacturing area and catch up those Euramerican enterprises as soon as possible, which is leading manufacturing with contribution to the society. |
