Company Y is a joint venture in the manufacturing of automotive seats and headliner. Under the pressure of more and more intensive market competition, the company is forced to cut down production costs to keep or develop market shares. Company has continuously developed 34 new manufacturing bases and subsidiary companies as strategy. Plan to achieve 20 billion sales revenue in five years. Supplier selection and supplier chain build up are the foundation stone of company growing, while currently the capability of supplier manufacturing and process and program management are uneven. As the company focusing on the assembly and manufacturing, the supply chain management capability decides the company performance at customer end and the success of new program. As a result, it's very important to define supplier's management level based on quality and cost and timing and service at different locations and to meet different program's needs for different customers.However, many problems still exist in company Y supply chain operation system, which restrict the company broaden and need to be resolved. This article investigates company Y and describes the fundamental conditions of company Y and the automotive supplier chain management system. Base on its current supplier operational management, the author analyzes from three aspects, supplier evaluation system, supplier quality control system and the standard of logistics management. The supplier management strategy is clearly positioned in terms of the whole supplier management procedure and the supplier management system restructure. The effects of supplier management system improvements are analyzed and evaluated synthetically in last section. This research is a practice of company Y to search better supplier operation system in order to increase its competitiveness in automotive market. Furthermore, it provides a good example for relevant corporations to improve their operations in automotive field.
