Energy, which is vital to national economy, is an indemnification for economy development and people's life quality. In recent years, with the fast development and increasing scale of China economy, the energy experiences enormous consumption, which incurs severe consequences. On one side, the environment is polluted seriously; on the other side, the limited energy sources also constrain the sustainable development of China's future economy. The efficiency of energy using has become the public focus gradually. Energy consumption intensity is a significant index in revealing the efficiency of energy using, so the changing direction of it and its influence factors have been widely paid attention by scholars. In the early research, factors which impact energy intensity are usually classified into two categories. The first category is technical change, which refers to the change in the energy required to produce a particular product. The second category is structural change, which includes the subcategories of final demand shift or sectors shift. Disputes surround the two factors existed among scholars. There are three kinds of representative conclusions:structure shift determinism, technique progress determinism and the proposition of staged contribution changes. However, the focus of research about energy intensity at home and aboard has transferred from taking about the structure shift effect and technique progress effect to the influence of energy price to energy intensity recently. Large numbers of economists contribute Chinese low energy efficiency to improper energy price system. Regulated energy price is lower than international price, which can't reflect supply and demand of the market, causing excess consumption of energy and low-level energy intensity. Scholars consider that increasing energy price can improve the energy efficiency, i.e. energy price has a negative effect to energy intensity; meanwhile, the impact of energy price to energy intensity is realized by adjusting the two main factors of energy intensity changes.Starting from the theory of energy intensity, the paper mainly uses structure decomposition analysis and econometric modeling to do some research on energy, based on a series of mixed input and output balance sheets. First of all, we decompose the change of energy consumption, and then continue to decompose the change of energy intensity into two effects:the technology-adjustment effect and the final-demand structure-shift effect. After that, we measure the relationship of energy price and energy intensity through an econometric modeling, and then talk about adjustment effect of energy price to the two factors which affect energy intensity. At last, we concluded that both the production technology progress and the change of final demand structure reduce energy intensity to some extent. Besides, there is a negative effect of energy price to energy intensity; meanwhile, energy price not only facilitates the optimal of final demand structure, it also has an induced effect to the production technology progress. Finally, we summarize the relative research and provide policy suggestions, which can be used to as the reference for our energy strategy, making the energy policy more practical.
