Research Of The Driving Mechanism Of Guangxi's Industrial Structure Evolution

Regional economic development is the result of combined action of economic growth and industrial structure evolution, the condition of industrial structure and economic structure reflect the level and trend of economic progress, restricting the speed of development, whether regional industrial structure is reasonable deciding the economic strength and competive power.All economic development influencing factors can push or constraint the change and development of industrial structure, for these reason, it has profound operation significance to study the driving mechanism of Guangxi's industrial structure evolution.On the basis of the related theories and literature reviews in Guangxi's industrial structure , there is no systematic and integrated research of its driving forces of the industrial structure. This thesis is to provide academic support for rational adjustment of Guangxi's industrial structure, through analized the driving forces of the Guangxi's industrial structure.Firstly, this paper summarize the situation of dynamic evolution and problems of the industrial structure after 30 years reform and opening up by studying the different characteristics and their internal structure, based on the theories of industrial structure evolution. Then analyses the relationship between the industrial structure and Guangxi's economic development by using the Shift-Share method, as well as the analysis of the influencing factors of Guangxi's industrial structure evolution from 1978 to 2008 by using the multiple regression model. The influencing factors include labor productivity, social consumption and consumpion structure, investment, resident income, foreign trade and labor input and so on. Finally conclude the quantitive influence of the factors in evidently impact of driving the Guangxi's industrial structure evolution, then put forward some policy suggestions for formulating industrial policy and providing theory evidence for rational adjustment of Guangxi's industrial structure.Through the empirical analysis, the basic conclusions of the thesis are as follows: firstly, from 1978 to 2008, Guangxi's tertiary industry has developed quickly, the primary industry has reduced continuously, the secondary industry has keeping up with the latest development. The current modern industrial structure is that, secondary industry is in the first positon , next is tertiary industry, last is the primary industry. But the crop farming proportion in Guangxi is too large, but the mixed farming is needed to be improved. The course of Guangxi's industrialisation develop too slowly, its development depends on traditional industry, its competitive power is lower. The development in tertiary industry also rely on the traditional service industry, and the labor intensive industry grow quickly, the capital intensive and the knowledge intensive industry develop slowly. Secondly, comparing with national economic, Guangxi's economic development is fluctuant from 1978 to 2008, the primary industry grow slowly, the secondary industry expand rapidly after 1989, the tertiary industry grow fast expect the period of 1989 to 1998. There are many differences between Guang xi's industrial structure and the national's, but the departure is reducing. There is no competitive edge in Guangxi's primary and tertiary industry which play less contribution in promoting economic. Thirdly , in the proceeding of Guang xi's industrial structure evolution the per capita gross domestic product, total capital formation, social comsumption, foreign trade, labor productivity and labor input have notable impact on primary industry evolution. The per capita gross domestic product, social comsumption, foreign trade, labor productivity, labor input and per capita annual net income of rural households have prominent contribution in secondary industry evolution. The per capita gross domestic product, total capital formation, social comsumption, foreign trade, labor productivity and labor input have evidently impacts on in tertiary industry evolution. In a word, the regional economic, total capital formation, social comsumption, foreign trade, labor productivity and labor input have noticeable effect on Guang xi's industrial structure evolution.On the basis of the above conclusions, some policy suggestions are put forward as follows: striving to develop the science and technology, making the technical innovation leading the Guangxi's industry development. Then raising the primary industry's technological standing, guaranteeing the agricultural products sell, ensuring the peasant's income increase. In the other hand, under the direction of the scientific concept of development, consolidating the leading role of secondary industry. Lastly, promoting the level development of the tertiary industry, enhancing its the information and technology service.
