Study On ECO In The Neo-functionalism Perspective

After the Second World War, especially after the Cold War, globalization and regionalization is becoming the main content of the world development. Every country and region has involved in the process of globalization and regionalization. Comparing with globalization, regionalization is more outstanding. The founding of Economy Corporation Organization (ECO) indicates the regionalization of Middle and East Asia.ECO is a regional organization, providing a very good chance for political, economical and cultural cooperation within the region. Guided by the principle of maintaining equal sovereignty and promoting common interests, all the member states try their best to participate in the international affairs and cooperate with each other in the area of science and technology, trading and education etc.Under the view of neo-functionalism, this paper analyses the developing model, state and difficulties. This paper studied the ECO on academic level, analyzing the probability of 'lower-polity' cooperation.This paper includes three parts. The first part explains the theory of neo-functionalism, including the relationship between functionalism and neo-functionalism, developmental stages of neo-functionalism and analytical framework of the paper. The second part analyses thoroughly the function, organizational framework and set-up reason of ECO. The last part studies the ECO on the view of neo-functionalism and point out the problems and limitation of ECO.
