Food is the most fundamental material basis for human survival;food security has always been one of the most attention-grabbing socio-economic problems in human history, to stabilize or increase grain production is the basis for food security. Urbanization is the necessary step for a national or regional socio-economic development; by acting on grain production factors, it has a significant impact on agriculture, especially on grain production. At present, Shandong province is experiencing rapid urbanization development, whose impact on grain production has been initially apparent. This paper takes Shandong Province for example, analyzes the effect of urbanization to gain production, reveals the problems brought by the rapid development of urbanization to the grain production, and explores the advices to protect grain production in the context of rapid urbanization. This paper, with the law of development of urbanization, firstly analyzes the characteristics of urbanization in Shandong province since the reform and opening up, and simply predicts urbanization trends of Shandong province in the future 10 years. Then, this paper analyzes the effect of grain acreage, agricultural labor, chemical fertilizer and agricultural machinery power to grain production of Shandong province. On this basis, this paper theoretically generalizes the relationship between the urbanization and grain production factors. At the same time, in accordance with the relevant data of Shandong Province, it does corresponding empirical analysis, and finds out that:grain acreage is the key to affecting grain production and an important factor threatening the safety of grain production. Under essential acreage conditions, urbanization does not necessarily promote or hinder grain production; the relationship between the two depends primarily on the larger one of positive and negative impact of urbanization and grain production. Subsequently, the article focuses on analyzing the possible issues in the urbanization process of Shandong province. At this stage, decline in the number and quality of cultivated land and agricultural labor, serious agricultural pollution is the main factors constraining grain production. At last, this paper puts forward to the corresponding countermeasures to resolve the above questions. It argues that, increasing area of cultivated land and improving its quality; mobilizing enthusiasm for growing grain and improving the quality of the agricultural labor force; improving the agricultural eco-environment could alleviate pressures on grain production at this stage, and promotes the harmonious development of urbanization and grain production.
