Empirical Study On Export Commodity Structure Of Shandong Province

Under the background of speeding up the transformation of foreign trade growth mode, it is an important task to optimize the export structure for promoting foreign trade development in Shandong Province. In recent years, export trade is rapidly developing. Trade volume is expanding quickly. But the export structure has also exposed some problems: such as the large proportion of labor-intensive exports; exports uncompetitive; low added value; exports in the international division of labor in the low status, etc. The development approach of emphasizing on speed but neglecting the quality and efficiency makes it impossible to achieve the sustained development of foreign trade in Shandong Province. The outbreak of the international financial crisis has exposed the drawbacks of the mode of foreign trade development. Therefore, optimizing the export structure is imperative.From the start of related theories about optimizing the export structure, combining data; and using of quantitative and qualitative combination of methods, this paper conduct an empirical analysis about development of the structure of export commodities from the aspects of the proportion of various types of exports; competitiveness; the impact on environment and society; as well as the export structure and the relevance of growth and industrial structure. Also an index system about export structure optimization is constructed, and the trend of export commodities'structural change is examined by use of factor analysis. Based on the above three aspects of research, we identify the existing problems about the structure of export commodities of Shandong Province. At last, we propose some related policies and suggestions about promoting structural optimization of export commodities.
