Research On The Optimization Of Export Commodity Structure In Henan Province

Henan Province，"Center of the world"，located at the joint of the YangtzeRiver Delta, Beijing-Tianjin-Tangshan economic zone，Pearl River Delta andChengdu-Chongqing zone, is the hub core of China’s east-west and south-northtraiffc artery，which is also passed through by" Eurasian Continental Bridge,’，besides this, it is also the gateway of going in and coming out of sixnorthwestern provinces. Henan’s unique and favorable geographic locationmakes it China’s vital hub of railway, highway, water conservancy, aviation,telecommunications, pipelines, energy, logistics, as well as Chinese hinterlandnational strategic integrated transport hub.With the implementation of the national strategy Rise of Central China "，rapid development has been achieved on Henan’s foreign trade, and the totalvolume of foreign trade has increased year by year. Henan’s export commoditystructure has also experienced a relatively large change along with thedevelopment of its foreign trade. Henan’s main export commodities havechanged from primary products into manufactured goods, which shows theoptimization trend of export commodity structure. But there are still manyproblems existing in Henan’s export commodity structure: Compared with therest provinces in China, Henan’s proportion of exported manufactured goods islower, among which the main exported ones are still labor resource intensiveproducts; the proportion of "double high " products is low; the ability to resistrisks is poor; the competitiveness of export commodities is relatively low; theproportion of domestic export is lower. As the export commodity structure of acountry or a region is closely linked to this country or this region’s overallforeign trade benefits, optimizing the export commodities structure can improvethe export benefits, and promote further economic development. Therefore,optimizing the structure of export commodities has great significance in exportdevelopment of Henan Province.This paper focuses on optimizing the export structure of Henan Province, combining qualitative and quantitative, and gradually analyzes the currentsituation of export commodities structure and degree of optimization in HenanProvince. This paper uses the time series of VAR model approach to analysis thefacilitating effect of export structure optimization in Henan Province, thismethod mainly involves four variables: export structure changes (EXW), exportgrowth rate (EX), economic growth rate (GDP), total factor productivity growthrate (TFP), then adopts the Granger causality and other methods includinggeneralized impulse response function, through which futrher analysis theexisting problems and constraints of Henan export commodities structure.According to Granger causality test and generalized impulse response, it isconcluded that, in the system involving the four variables of EXW, EX, GDPand TEP，the proportion of manufactured goods in the total exported goods isnot the Granger reason of EX and GDP, however, when this proportion is above10%，it becomes the Granger reason of TEP, which can be explainedeconomically: export structure optimization of Henan, can accelerate the growthof TEP, conversely it hardly improve the growth of export and economy. Finally,according to the problems concluded by analysis, this paper puts forward theexport commodity structure optimization measures for Henan Province.
