Funeral Ritual Research Of Tang Dynasty

Tang Dynasty with great political hegemony, is generally regarded as a high point in Chinese ancient civilization. It also exerted a powerful cultural influence over Tang Dynasty funeral etiquette which flourished and further matured during the era. Basing on the remainded documents of Tang dynasty, such as jiutangshu and xintangshu, this paper took a general and systemic research on the funeral of Tang dynasty, in order to restore it as completely as possible. The whole paper includes three parts.The first part summarize the general research on the funeral of Tang dynasty.The second part is the delicates of the research of the funeral of Tang dynasty. We found Tang Dynasty funeral ritual contains about twenty-six parts, such as evocation,bathing and so on.The third part is about the characters of Tang's funeral. Compared with the funeral before Tang, it had three main characters.First, Tang's mortuary ritual began to fuse together with rules. Second, special form of Tang Dynasty funeral——call tomb mausoleum. Third, Tang's people grand buried in different ways.
