Today, to which knowledge economy has come, "Science and technology are primary productive forces" is beyond doubt, and a country's or region's development level of science and technology represent its competitive power. In the world, it's obvious that those countries or regions with international competitive power are all highly developed in science and technology. Therefore, the countries and regions in the world are trying their efforts to increase R&D (research and development) input in order to enhance their technology level, and they also take "Relying on scientific and technological progress to promote the economic development of the region" for a basic policy. In this context, "Invigorating China through science and education" has become China's basic national policy, and "Invigorating Xinjiang through science and technology" has become a major strategy of Xinjiang's economic development. From international experience, developed countries and regions continue to increase R&D input to maintain its technological leadership, but for developing countries and regions, because their technology bases are weak, and they must increase R&D input except technology indraught, so that their developments are not enslaved to other areas, and they can solve the problem of technical independence radically in the long term.In consideration of the above, by examining a large number of relevant literature, utilizing the theories of previous researcher, the author uses econometric software Eviews 3.1 and empirical analysis methods, such as antitheses, unit root test and cointegration test, to analyze the status of Xinjiang'R&D input and economic growth and the long-term relationship between them, and finds the problems of Xinjiang'R&D input, and gives relevant countermeasures finally. During the analysis process, the author divides R&D funds input by activity type and executant in accordance with the international standards, so that the analysis is in-depth.
