The American economy and Chinese economy have increased and developed very fast since 1990s. The innovation of system and the reasonable regulation and control for macroscopic economic policy enhance the information technology and the corresponding industrial revolution and promote the continuous growth of American economy for 12 months since March, 1991 to March 2001. The annual growth rate for Gross Domestic Product in America has remained 2.5% to 4.5% from 1992 to 2000. The establishment of the system of market economy and the deepening of reform since the beginning of 1990s enhance the growth of allocation of resources efficiency and the quantity of resources invested. At the same time, the economy in China has been boosted continuously in high speed since 1991. The annual growth rate for Gross Domestic Product in China has remained 7.1% to 14.2% from 1991 to 2004. The annual average rate for growth for Chinese total export is 19.7% according to estimation by America, and for Chinese total import has reached 14.1%. In addition, the transfer from the textiles and other light industrial goods to Electrical and Mechanical product has been realized in the Chinese total export and the weight of Electrical and Mechanical product in the total import has increased to some extent. As a result, the commodity structure of Sino-American trade especially the export has been optimized.This thesis is intended to make a comparative analysis of competitiveness of Chinese and American export goods referring the index of"export competitiveness"to explore the Chinese goods with advantage and put forward the structural solutions to Chinese import and export goods based on the international market needs and Chinese practical situation for insuring the export continuous competitiveness.
