The Criticism And Thinking Of Consumptive Alienation

This article combines Marx's alienation theory with Western Marxism's critique of the consumptive alienation, mainly discussing the sources of consumptive alienation theory, definitions, hazards and the necessity of eliminating consumptive alienation, then combining its current consumptive situation of china. Consumptive alienation is the extension of Marx's "alienation of labor" by Western Marxists. Since the 20th century, the assembly line which is brought by the scientific and technological progress has provided abundant goods to people. At the same time, the continued possession and consumption of goods has become the main way of life and the main link between the world and people. Consumptive alienation is the control of people, nature and society by creating false demands and the value system of symbols and commercialize all to the consumptive object, after the formation of the mass consumptive group. Consumptive alienation is the result of subjective and objective interaction:On the one hand, productivity improvements for the people's consumption provides abundant goods, on the other hand, alienation of labor gave rise to the repression, not freedom, so that people regard the consumption as the ideal area for freedom, and the essential reason is the inherent contradiction of capitalism. Despite the alienation of the consumer activity can brings temporary satisfaction, but in fact, the relation within the consumptive subject, goods, self and other consumptive subjects is alienated. Therefore, consumption alienation can only hinder the comprehensive development, the normal operation of the economy, and the possession of goods will also cause the waste of resource and environmental damage.Although there're many similar problems in the consumption of china, but we must premise it on the actual situation in China when absorbing and using the Western Marxist theory of consumptive theory of Western Marxism. China is still in the industrial restructuring, and the urban-rural dual structure is still very evident. In the southeastern coastal cities, the consumption has been developed and the consumptive alienation is very prevalent. But the rural in underdeveloped inland areas of north-west are still excluded from the consumer, and the people's living standard is still in the struggle for the food and clothing stage. Based on the above research background, the author proposed "Consumptive Harmony",and considering the key of solving the contradiction between the relevant consumptive alienation and effective demand of people is to establish a harmonious consumptive society. The consumption must be harmonious with the development of environment and society.
