The pursuit of happiness is an eternal and ultimate goal in human life. In history, the great sages had thought about"what happiness is"for a long time. There are ancient Greek philosophers Plato and Aristotle who defined the original meaning of happiness and ancient Chinese Confucian,Taoist,Buddhist Though which set the pursuit of happiness comprehensive explanations. So far,the issue being discussed has produced a number of research theories and measuring methods. Research theory are mainly based on four theoretical types of factors, namely economy factors, character factors, culture factors and demographic factors. In terms of measuring methods,Jigme Singye Wangchuck,King of Bhutan, proposed"Gross National Happiness"(GNH) as a new concept in 1970,by which total national happiness can be estimated and compared. With the statistics and computer technology developing in the 21st century, new techniques such as structural equation model (SEM) and association analysis have been applied to measure happiness. In face of so many research theories and measuring methods, this paper discusses and analyzes following four questions:Firstly, will the perception levels and factors of subjective well-being change over time? Secondly, what's the ranking of four regions'GNH in Guangdong? Thirdly, what's the relationship between observed variables and factors of subjective well-being? The fourth, what about the affects between demographic factors and subjective well-being?This paper takes Guangdong urban residents as population. By use of index calculation,SEM and association analysis, the paper mainly set focus on the main issues of subjective well-being. And based on the combination with economics, sociology and psychology disciplines, the paper reaches some reliable conclusions and suggestions.
