Study On R&D Tactics Of Firms Based On Network Externalities

To the development of economy, more and more industries participate in international competition. Innovation is the core strength of competition. Technological innovation obtained R & D activities of enterprises gain material foundation competition. Technological innovation is an unceasing driving force making country move forward. R&D activities, a significant strategic way for firms to enhance the competitiveness plays an important role in technological innovation.Network externalities are the essential characteristics of the network economy, To the accompaniment of the developing of net-economy and hi-tech industry, more and more industries display the characteristic of network externalities which endowed with demanding economics of scale, technological innovation ,Market competition ,Consumer activities and Social Welfare of firm display a different characteristic from conventional industry.This article starts with relevant documents ,including firms'R&D activities under network externalities condition, R&D spillover, R&D absorption and R&D cooperation effect. Technology Alliance, as a socio-economic phenomenon has become an important strategy for technological innovation, In order to reveal the relationship of the network externalities in knowledge spillovers, absorptive capacity, R&D methods and R&D investment. Proposed three-stage game model, the 3th chapter study on effectiveness of the characteristic of network externalities,absorptive capacity and R&D spillovers which have been introduced in models in R & D cooperation. Asymmetry of knowledge is the fundamental driving force of R & D cooperation, Knowledge spillovers is the direct reason for enterprises to choose cooperation. The company's absorptive capacity is converter of knowledge spillovers, which can make Knowledge spillovers into the output of innovation cooperation. Under network externalities condition , researching relationship of knowledge spillover, business-to-absorption capacity of external knowledge and R & D activities of the cooperative effect in the strategy technology alliance, can reveal the microscopic mechanism for R & D cooperation, maintain the stability of cooperation.Owing to the above theory model analysis, the main body of the paper has brought forward innovation strategy of firms under network externalities market condition in the 4th chapter, improving the firm technology competitiveness, in the last chapter, 3G Standard Competitive in China communications industry has been quoted, further, verifying and perfecting analysis of the preceding theory model and conclusion of analytical tactics. The Case also play the role of a supplementary explanation of the standard competitiveness under the network externalities. In the end, the conclusion has been reached and attempts to put forward my own proposals of further study.
