During transition of depth development of economy, owing to these factors such as its not economic using land, fragmentation of the distribution of the market, and its serious interference on urban traffic, the traditional commodity market has a certain degree of obstruction on the development of the city. And it faces re-adjustment in the city space layout. So there is an urgent need for the research on the space layout of the commodity market, and enhancing the space distribution of commodity markets resources within the city.At first, this paper introduces systematically the related theories and research achievements on the space layout of commodity market at home and abroad, and defines systematically the relevant concepts. Then the paper has a research on the developmental history of the commodity market, and compares the development situation of the social commodity market in different levels of economic development. And the paper researches on the historical evolution of the commodity market in Chengdu by analyzing market volume, market turnover, and the sale of different commodities, and summarizes the characteristics of the space layout of the commodity markets in Chengdu and problems. Then the paper analyzes quantitatively and qualitatively the relations between commodity market and them——the compatibility of market and the environment, the relations between market and road systems, the harmonization between market and the urban public building, the relations between the land use planning and the intensity of development, the relations between market and the high or low land rent. And the paper predicts the development scale of the Chengdu market through using linear regression model.At last, linked the city space development strategy, using the circle theory, Hoyt's sector model theory, the paper analyzes the space layout of the commodity market in Chengdu, and puts forward the overall program cum-park development mode, At the same time, by comparing to the use efficiency of the land, the paper tests the effectiveness of focusing on developing commodity market parks, and puts forward related measures and suggestions.
