The third-party logistics outsourcing has already become the important way for enterprises to reduce the cost and keep the core business and the competence. This thesis at first introduces the fundamental concepts of supply chain and supply chain management, as well as a systematic analysis of the thought of supply chain management, and expressly advances the eight principles of it, following which is an introduction to the implication and functional characteristics of third-party logistics in the supply chain context, along with the primary problems confronting our country currently in the field of third-party logistics, against which several feasible solutions are then provided. Finally, through an analysis of the decision-making issues of third-party logistics in the supply chain context, it reveals the influencing factors of outsourcing, and resorts to Core Competence Theory and Contract Theory with the aim to liquidate a problem in the decision-making process of third-party logistics, i.e. to choose from private logistics and logistics outsourcing. One aspect that influences the decision-making of logistics outsourcing can be approached from the Core Competence theory, that is, the competence level of logistics business, as different outsourcing policy is required for each level. Another aspect as such is concluded from the Contract Theory that outsourcing policies vary with the marketization degree of logistics. The interaction of the Core Competence Theory and Contract Theory settles the issue of decision-making of third-party logistics outsourcing. At the end of this article, the correctness of the aforesaid theories is validated by the elaboration of the decision-making process of Chongqing Unicom.
