Banking is an important part of the national economy. Under the background of economic globalization and the all-round opening of the financial industry, China's banking system is increasingly important in non-traditional nation security system. Meanwhile, because banking plays important roles in the development of every profession and trade, accelerating the healthy development of banking is related to the healthy development of national economy as a whole, and further related to the issues of domestic employment, security and the people's livelihood. As a typical representative in knowledge-intensive service sector, service innovation of banking is an important driving force of its development. Although the 2007 subprime crisis in the USA resulting in global financial crisis has raised different views towards financial innovation in banking sector from both theoretical and practical circles, it is undeniable that financial service innovation is still an important driving force to advance the development of banking in the context of China. Now China's banking is in the crucial period of trying to enhance competitiveness through service innovation and facing international competition. But in a practical level, there exist some problems in service innovation of China's banking, such as lack of fully understanding of service innovation, lack of capability of mastering the forms of service innovation, and uneven firm service innovation performance, etc. In the theoretical level, previous researches are not mature in studying internal mechanism of service innovation of Chinese banking. They focus on the studies from the macro perspective lack of in-depth studies combined with high risk, high knowledge and high degree of interactivity in banking sector, and cannot explain the characteristics of innovation service clearly.Basing on the above situations, this paper studies from the service innovation phenomenon of banking sector, reviews previous researches, and uses multi-cases analysis to explore the key influential factors of banking service innovation, to learn the mechanisms how above influential factors affecting innovation performance, and to summarize the key elements influencing success or failure of banking service innovation. Firstly this paper summarizes existed theories of banking service innovation and influencing factors of innovation, secondly selects 4 typical cases of 3 representative enterprises in Chinese banking sector to do in-depth research, and then uses multi-cases analysis to draw out key influential factors of banking and the mechanism how influential factors affecting innovation performance. At the same time, this paper conducts an empirical study through the questionnaires to study the influential factors of banking service innovation. This paper presents six key influential factors of banking service innovation performance basing on the multi-cases analysis and literature reviews, learns the mechanism how influential factors affecting service innovation through an empirical study, and proves the effect mechanism that key influential factors influence innovation performance through service concept innovation and service transference innovation.In the conclusion and prospect section, this paper summarizes the findings through the multi-cases study and empirical research, provides suggestions for the banking firms basing on above findings, and finally makes the prospects for the future research.
