In the 1990s, along with the rapid development of China automobile industry, automobile industry has entered a marginal profit time. Car manufacturers trying various means to reduce the production costs, then the logistics industry has become a new source of growth and profits for business to survive and develop.Automobile Logistics is an integrated management which set transportation,storage,loading and unloading,packaging,product distribution processing,distribution and logistics information management in an integrated whole. It's the most technical of all the logistics industry, involves the most extensive areas of highest complexity. The warehousing system is the basis planning of the whole logistics systems, It's the longest stay of goods and where produce the most cost. Reasonable storage plan will directly affect the efficiency of operation and cost of the entire logistics system.With the development of automation technology, Automatic Storage &Retrieval System (ASRS) also been developed rapidly in the warehousing, and extensive be used in various industries. Thesis takes a car manufacturer in Nanjing as research object, re-plan their warehousing systems and improve the level of automation of enterprise warehousing systems.Paper first introduces the related basis theoretical which consist of composition, characteristics, design principles and design steps and so on of ASRS. Then take automobile manufacturing enterprises in Nanjing for example, re-division the storage area, design shelves and subsepuent equipments.Second, optimize the distribution of cargo space. Make a mathematical modeling according to the principle of material stored, then use the idea of Variable Neighborhood Search (VNS), make an optimization of distribution of cargo space using Matlab. Let materials can get a good cargo space when it enter the warehouse.Finally, simulate the storage operation of the system. Through statistical data system, use AutoMod to establish simulation model, observe whether the smooth operation of the system, then using AutoStat analysis the results of simulation and make some adjustments accordingly, so that, warehousing system planning can be conducted more reasonable and effective.
