Nowadays, the most important competition the enterprises facing is the talent competition. We have entered a knowledge-based economy era, which is dominated by intelligence resources and distribution of knowledge production. The public pay more attention to the research and exploration of the strategy of sustainable development on social production, as well as the the individual employees sustainable development. Education and training become an important weapon for corporate strategic development, and learning itself become a major strategy in the enterprise. Chief Learning Officer (CLO) is based on this strategy demand arose. He was responsible for corporate learning and development, and realizing the strategic goal. He is the one of the key officer who help the enterprise survival in the rapid developing information society . The estabilishment of the post represents the demand and attention to talent, which is an important strategy for modern enterprise talent management. However, CLO is still something new in China, although it is a pivotal role in the enterprise, but few companies have real domestic CLO.The purpose of this study is to explore the competency for CLO, which is based on the CLO-related research abroad. Both the qualitative and quantitative analysis methods are used in this research. Firstly, preliminary competency model was established based on the extensive literature research, and then interviewing with corporate education experts was conducted to complete the model. Finally, get the weight of the competency with the AHP tool, then we get the Chief Learning Officer competency model.The study concluded that chief learning officer is a Compound talents, who is a leader, a performance expert, a learning experts and strategic partner in the company.The key competencies he must possess is leadership, performance specialists, learning specialists, and form partnerships with top executives.
