A Study Of The Sustainability Of Economic Modernization On Village-level

Village economy is the smallest spatial unit of the economy of the regional economic system, and economic modernization in the whole country base on the economic modernization of the village-region. Since reform and opening up, village economy has made tremendous achievements, especially with a level of modernization. However, modernization of the extensive economy which mainly depends on the large number inputs of capital, energy, raw materials, labor, and other elements is not sustainable. It is a critical period for China to find a sustainable way of modernization of village economy nowadays.Zhejiang, a coastal province, has developed the modernization of village- economic region for many years with a much maturer mechnisam. Thus, it is a typical to study of sustainability of its in some villages of Zhejiang, importantly, leaving the experience for the whole country.Firstly, the paper established framework of the core theoretical basis by summarize the literature on the village economic modernization both at home and abroad.Then, the thesis makes selection and correction for measurement models of regional economic modernization at present, according to the theoretical contents and requirements of measurement about economic modernization of village-region.And chooses 3 groups with 26 indicators which are fators of village economic modernization and determined the measurement models used in this study and determined a total of of five categories selected from the many factors that affecting the level of the of village-region, used AHP(The Analytic Hierarchy Process) to carry out the importance of sequencing for all of the measure indicators and calculate each weight. Then this study quantified various indicators by the Meta-synthesis to insure the five grades of the assessment of the level of sustainability of economic modernization of village-region. Finally, by investigating the level of sustainability of village economic modernization from three classical types of such as modern agriculture-based, modern industry-based and professional market, and analyzing the level of each village from 1980 to 2005, we get the following conclusions:Firstly, the way to economic modernization of village-region is to take sustainable development; secondly, the actionsto promote economic modernization must be according to its background; Thirdly, itis a key factor for sustainable economic modernization to maintain economic development;The last, there is a great challenge to develop economic modernization of village-region for Zhejiang Morepove,the study provides some recommendations to the economic modernization of village-region,is to promote the development and transition of the economy of village-reign with innovation,to optimize the force of the economic development by internal and external integration,and to deepen and widen the future space of the economic development by multi-dimensional force.
