Research On Industrial Structure Adjustment Of Harbin Metropolitan Area In Post-University Winter Games Period

Sports is not only a competitive behavior, it is a social activity which is closely linked with economic development. As an exhibition activity, sports meeting can congregate production elements in a short time. It can generate great economic effect through the organic combination among production elements, effectively promoting economic development. Therefore, large sports meeting become the focus of social attention.February 2009, the twenty-fourth University Winter Games (UWG), was held in Harbin. This event brought to Harbin unprecedented opportunity for-development. Infrastructure has been significantly improved, employment has been increased greatly. Construction, tourism, retail and other related industries got big promotion. The city image of Harbin was greatly upgraded. However, after UWG, the elements aggregation will abate gradually, investment will decline, infrastructure construction will reduce, tourist number will decrease, these factors will bring negative impact on economic development of Harbin Metropolitan area. Meanwhile,-there are some structural problems in industrial development of Harbin Metropolitan area. Therefore, in the Post-University Winter Games period, how to avoid the negative impact of UWG, and how to promote economic development in Harbin metropolitan area become an important issue.This paper combines theory and empirical. It sets out from the analysis of the economic effects of exhibition activities, to find the shortcomings of UWG compared with other exhibition activities. Meanwhile, it analyses the industry development statues of Harbin Metropolitan area. Considering the problems in industrial development, and learning from other exhibition activities, it proposes industrial adjustment strategy for Harbin Metropolitan area in Post-UWG period, giving advices for promoting economic development of Harbin Metropolitan area.
